Barbados Postal Service issued a set of 6 stamps to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Independence (1966-2016) on November 18, 2016.

The stamps cover six different areas of development in Barbados including transportation, education, manufacturing, sports, agriculture and tourism.

The $2.20 stamp features the new Hilton Barbados Resort which opened in 2005.

The original Barbados Hilton opened in November 1966 to coincide with the independence of Barbados.  The hotel operated until 1999 before it was demolished for the construction of the new Hilton resort.
