Hilton Caribe San Juan Puerto Rico 1950s postcard


The Caribe Hilton opened in 1949 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

It is also known as the birthplace of Piña Colada.

The popular drink was concocted by bartender Ramon “Monchito” Marrero, who retired in 1989 after 35 years.

The Caribe Hilton celebrates its 70th anniversary this December.
