Hilton Taipei 1982 postcard to Oak Park, Illinois

Taipei Hilton Hotel was the first five-star international hotel in Taiwan.  Construction of the 20-story hotel across from the Taipei Rail Station began in September of 1970.  When the construction completed in March 1973, the hotel was the tallest building in Taipei. The hotel grand opening was on July 15, 1973.  Taipei Hilton was profitable in its first year of operation - a first in Hilton's history.  After 30 years as the only Hilton hotel in Taiwan, it was renamed Caesar Park Hotel on January 1, 2003.  It would be another 15 years before the Hilton brand returned to Taiwan.
