Conrad Hilton built his eighth hotel - the Falls Hotel in Marlin, Texas. According to a plaque issued by the Texas State Historical Survey Committee in 1970, the Falls Hotel was an "Early Hilton Hotel built 1929-1930. After Conrad Hilton had initiated career that later made him foremost innkeeper in the world. A first venture in the boom town of Cisco brought a dream of Texas wearing a chain of Hilton hotels. Reality outran dreams. This was his eight hotel. Marker dedicated to Conrad N. Hilton (born in 1887) one of the great men of American's Southwestern frontier."
