Dear Friend:
Forty-seven years ago today, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born in Brookline, Massachusetts.
This afternoon, government officials, close friends and member of the late president's family gathered at a luncheon here at the Statler-Hilton to mark the issue and first public sale of the Kennedy Memorial Stamps. A temporary post office was set up in our lobby to handle the sale and cancellation of these new stamps.
As a memento, we have sent you this First Day Cover envelope, and its historic stamp, appropriately cancelled, with our compliments.
Sincerely,
signed
